This study examines the contradictions arising from the preservation and reconstruction of twentieth-century buildings in Yerevan. It explores the challenges associated with balancing urban development, cultural heritage conservation, and economic interests, all of which significantly influence the architectural character of the capital. This study analyzes reconstruction projects implemented in different districts of Yerevan and evaluates their impact on the historical and cultural environment, as well as urban identity. Particular attention was paid to the assessment of Soviet-era architectural heritage, legal regulations, and public participation in decision-making processes. The findings highlight the need for a balanced approach that integrates heritage conservation principles with contemporary urban development demands.
