Abstract

This article examines the development of the aesthetic and visual-communicative system of Armenian poster art from 1920 to 1960. The evolution is conceptualized as a three-stage process: the morphological Constructivist phase (1920–1930), the institutionalized Socialist Realism period (1930–1950), and the stage of artistic and technical consolidation (1950–1960). The analysis is based on morphological, compositional, semiotic, chromatic, and typographic examination. The study demonstrates that Armenian poster art emerged as a multilayered visual system that integrates national color-imagery traditions, Soviet ideological models, and formal influences of the European avant-garde of the 1920s–1930s. The research shows that Armenian posters function not only as instruments of ideological communication but also as an autonomous visual-artistic system that constitutes an essential component in the history of graphic design.
