Abstract

A project for the creation of a network of fixed navigation reference stations for defense and security needs in the border zones of the Republic of Armenia has been substantiated and developed. The project includes a reference network layout, site selection criteria for individual stations, network observation sessions, and observation periods. Based on the observation days and sessions, the coordinates of 12 fixed stations operating in the Republic of Armenia and ITRF stations located within a radius of up to 2000 km near the territory of the Republic for the same period should be used as the initial data for georeferencing the network of reference stations. Adjustment and balancing of the navigation reference network should be performed using the Bernese GNSS v5.0 software package. To assess the accuracy of the final calculated coordinates of the reference stations, they are compared with the ITRF20 coordinates of the ITRF stations involved in the adjustment process. The selection criteria for the GNSS reference station and antenna location, dust- and moisture-protected metal cabinets for signal reception, and server installation and operation are provided. For cartographic, geodetic, and engineering work, the calculated coordinates for the observation period are transformed into the RA NGS (ARMREF02) coordinate system using the Helmert method. The planned network can provide a unified, automated, digital, flexible geodetic coordinate system throughout the Republic of Armenia, capable of providing the necessary high-precision geodetic data for defense, educational, design, practical, geographic information, and navigation systems in the defense, security, economic, and scientific fields of the Republic of Armenia. This will significantly increase labor productivity, reduce the costs and time of design and practical work, reduce the number of qualified personnel, and ensure the security of base stations. In addition, those performing geodetic and cartographic work will have access to an automated multidimensional, multilayered information system.
