Fuel consumption norms for road transport are intended for the purposes of fuel consumption in operating conditions, statistics, operational management, determining the cost of transportation, taxing the income of transport companies, as well as developing energy-saving technologies and measures. When developing fuel consumption norms, the operational cost of basic models of rolling stock is determined taking into account the transportation work performed and operating conditions. In the article, a methodology is developed, thanks to which it is possible to correctly plan the expediency of organizing transportation by automobiles during passenger transportation and freight traffic, according to the specific consumption of fuel. Transport companies make the annual programming of automobile fuel consumption according to the volume of transport work, freight traffic and passenger traffic. The use of the indicator of the control volume of automobile fuel as a base norm cannot serve as a basis for the correct planning of annual fuel and cash resources.
