Abstract

To reduce accident rates in road transport and mitigate their consequences, barriers of various types, designs, strength characteristics, and materials are widely used. Assessing their effectiveness and functional performance makes it possible to ensure regulated and conflict-free traffic flow, and in the event of a road traffic accident (RTA), it helps reduce the likelihood of vehicles leaving the carriageway and prevents the occurrence of severe consequences. This article presents an analysis of road barrier classification, application feasibility, and methods for evaluating their operational effectiveness.
