Abstract

Investigated the structural behavior of excavation slopes under varying excavation depths and lateral retaining configurations. The primary objective is to evaluate the influence of different engineering solutions on the stress-strain state and the overall factor of safety (FoS) of the slopes. Numerical modeling was conducted via the finite element method (FEM) utilizing PLAXIS 2D software, adopting a staged construction sequence. The research evaluates three distinct retaining structures: a sheet pile wall, a secant pile wall, and a reinforced concrete diaphragm wall. Deterministic calculations were performed under identical geotechnical conditions across three excavation depths (4m, 6m, and 8m) subjected to static loading conditions. For each scenario, a comprehensive comparative analysis was carried out, focusing on horizontal displacements, internal structural forces (bending moments), and factors of safety. The synthesized numerical outputs were subsequently ranked using the multi-criteria decision-making (TOPSIS) method, ensuring an objective and systematic comparison of the retaining systems across the investigated depths. The analysis established the behavioral patterns of excavation slope stress-strain state under increasing depth, while quantitatively evaluating the performance differentials among the investigated retaining systems.
