Abstract

The application of artificial intelligence technologies in the field of design significantly influences both the design process and professional training. Generative algorithms and machine learning–based tools are increasingly employed at various stages of the design process, ranging from conceptual sketching to the presentation of project solutions. However, in educational contexts, their use is often accompanied by a reduction in independent creative exploration and a shift towards the reproduction of algorithmically generated outcomes, thereby raising a number of ethical and professional concerns. The purpose of this article is to analyse the ethical aspects of the application of artificial intelligence in the design process, with particular attention to its impact on the formation of independent creative thinking among students. The research employs an analytical review of scholarly sources, comparative analysis, and conceptual examination. The results identify key ethical risks related to ambiguity of authorship, reduced awareness of design decision-making, and the transformation of the designer’s role. However, these issues underscore the necessity of developing a responsible and critically grounded approach to the use of AI technologies in design education.
