Thanks to their high efficiency, geothermal heat pump systems (GCHP) have found extensive use in various buildings. In buildings, the heating and cooling loads are often uneven. Therefore, it is necessary to apply combined approaches in the design of GCHP systems to reduce the capital investment costs of GCHP systems while simultaneously improving system efficiency. The article summarizes the main combined approaches for GCHP systems and provides recommendations. For buildings with a large heating load, the combination of a GCHP system with a solar system demonstrates significant potential for energy savings and high efficiency of the GCHP. For buildings with a large cooling load, the simplest approach is the combination of the GCHP system with a cooling tower.
