Abstract

This article delves into the iconography of furniture in Armenian medieval miniature painting. The purpose of the work is to reveal the principles of depicting the subject environment and to observe the types of furniture often found in the pictures, which were considered customary by the Armenian people. Through selected examples, the interior design in various thematic scenes is analyzed to highlight common elements. As a result, the following conclusions are drawn: 1 Despite the canonical system of iconography and the illusory nature of space in thematic compositions, the interior environment is presented realistically, 2 The forms of furniture depicted in the miniatures have modern counterparts, which show the permanence of some designs and their importance in the traditional Armenian way of life. The scientific publication is aimed at those studying the interior decoration of the residential environment of medieval Armenia.
