The article analyzes the idea of “Smart City”, its concept, design and implementation. The potential and possibilities of using GIS and its tools. The article also discuss the structure and features of the Smart City.Geospatial data, which refers to different types of urban infrastructure, are an integral part of urban space management and control. For intelligent spatial data management, megacities have made GIS systems part of their information infrastructure. The presented tasks will help to modernize and develop the implementation of GIS data in a number of areas considered in the “Smart City” concept, which will create the opportunity for the fundamental basis of the integrated cadaster to provide society with reliable data through automation on the RA Geoportal. In recent years, GIS technologies have been intensively used in Armenia for smart cites management. An example of this is the city of Vagharshapat, which was transferred to the GIS environment.
