Abstract

In the following article the compositional features of the ensemble of the Yerevan Republic Square are considered: scalability, silhouette development of volumes, compositional axis, color, chiaroscuro, the rhythm of powerful arches developing around the entire perimeter of the square and artistic decoration. The aim of the study is, after performing a comprehensive analysis of the volumetric-spatial composition of the square, to present the reasons that violate the integrity of the ensemble. The latter was formed as a result of the spontaneous building of the city center, particularly in recent years. The novelty arises from the fact that the integrity of the spatial composition of the square has been studied, problems that violate it have been identified, and recommendations have been given for their elimination.
